SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Kindred I

I've been working on some new surface designs, and I recently had the first of them printed onto fabric.  The name of the design is Kindred I, and it has a tribal and ethnic theme.  It's simple but the symbols are bold, and I decided to have it printed onto a very soft and wonderful organic cotton interlock knit fabric.  I'm so pleased with the result.  It really captures the essence of what I was going for.  I can't wait to start working with it.  For now, here's a peek:

I have submitted an essay entry in the Wells Fargo Works Project.  It is a contest Wells Fargo is sponsoring for small business owners who would benefit from receiving mentorship and a cash award for their business.  This is a judged contest and the winners will be based on a video or essay submission that addresses several questions.  The judges will award a maximum of 95 points for the submission.  Eligible entries are posted online in a Contest Gallery, and the public is invited to vote for the entries of their choice through July 19th.  Public voting points will be awarded after the judges have selected a group of potential finalists based on their total judged scores.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: In Black and White

No matter who you are, you probably have black go-to pieces in your wardrobe.  It's practically a necessity.  There are many reasons people wear black.  It can be for the slimming effect or simply because it's cool or chic.  Of course, basic black goes with just about everything, but it's usually paired with white for a classic look.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: More New Fabric!

I had another one of my surface designs, Zig, printed onto a modern jersey fabric, and I couldn't be happier with the results!  I LOVE this fabric, and I have some big plans in store for it.  I'm anxious to get started creating with it, but there are too many things ahead of it on the to-do list at the moment.  I've got to step it up or I just might burst at the seams (pun intended)!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Fusion 3

In some parts of the world they are celebrating Carnival, a time of celebration, merrymaking and feasts.  The weather is usually accommodating for the outdoor festivities, warm and sunny.  Here on the East Coast of the U.S. however, the current weather inspires thoughts of hibernation instead of celebration.  The temps are in the single digits during the night and early morning, with daytime temps ranging in the teens and twenties.  If that isn't bad enough, the wind has been brutal.  Gusts were as high as 60 mph over the weekend, causing wind chill temps to be in the negative zone.  They've settled down a bit, but whip up periodically to let us know that they're not done yet.  Now they're calling for snow tonight, which is something I never get excited about.  I've started doing my countdown to Spring... 32 days. :-)

While my body is trying to stay warm, my mind is firing up its own celebration, which has led to my Fusion series of surface designs.  It makes me think of the Caribbean, and fun festivities in the sun.  I've made these bold designs available on a variety of items, including cell phone cases, clocks, pillows, rugs and more.  Below is a sample of some of these products featuring my Fusion 3 design.  You'll find these and more in my shop on Society 6.

Happy New Year!

I hope your 2015 is off to a great start!  I started the year with loads of energy and lots of enthusiasm for what this year has in store.  My creative juices are flowing over, and I can't wait to bring my new visions to life.

Red is my favorite color, and it's also one of the colors associated with the holiday season.  Everywhere you turn during the month of December, you're bound to see it in some form.  Red ribbons are popular decorations for a tree, red sweaters are in plentiful supply, and who doesn't love a red velvet cake.

My Retropolis collection of surface designs mixes funky designs with bold colors.  Retropolis 7 © is a futuristic pattern (think Jetsons) in vivid orange and purple.  They make a striking pair.  My design has been printed on a super soft modern jersey fabric, which also has a bit of stretch.  I used the fabric to create this Infinity Scarf, an accessory that will add some pop to an outfit or coat.  It's available in the SKCreations online boutique.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Stained Glass Mosiac © Infinity Scarf

I love stained glass and I have collected small pieces over the years that I've set in windows around my home to capture the sunlight.  It is a beautiful thing to see.  It inspired me to create my Stained Glass Mosiac © surface design that combines a potpourri of colors and patterns to create a unique mosaic.  I was very pleased with the digital outcome, so I decided that it would be great on fabric for my Infinity Scarf collection.  I'm so glad I did it.  This design has become one of my new favorites and, with all the colors, you can wear the scarf with everything!  It's available now in the SKCreations online boutique.

Today is the 18th of November, and it feels like it's the 18th of January.  An arctic blast has descended upon us, and temperatures are way below average.  It's cold and windy.  Thankfully, the sun is shining brightly, so visually it is a beautiful day.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Zodiac Note Cards

Our original Zodiac-Sun designs are now available in Note Cards.  The cards are 5" x 7" and come in a set of twelve, one for each astrological sign.  The front of the cards have the pictorial meanings of the symbols associated with each sign, showcased on a sun pattern with colorful rays.  Each design includes the sign's name and birth period.  On the inside left side of each card, I've listed six of the characteristics associated with the sign.  The inside right side is blank so you can add a personal note.  Twelve white envelopes are included in the set.  Available in the SKCreations, LLC online boutique.
