This Shay Maxi Skirt/Tube Dress is crafted from a super soft modern jersey fabric that features our original Kindred II surface design.  As a skirt, the wide waistband can be worn fully opened or folded over, either at the natural waist or just above the hip, and the full skirt has a flirty flare.  The Shay can also be worn as a tube dress.  It's a great way to show off your effortless style.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: How to Style Your SKCreations Infinity Scarf

I recently had a customer purchase one of my Maxi Skirts in my Zig design, and when she received it she asked if I had an Infinity Scarf to match.  Although I'd made many scarves, I hadn't considered doing one in Zig.  I did one especially for her, and when it was finished I realized how much I liked it so I made one for myself and decided to make the design available in my online store.  I also decided it would be a great choice to showcase the various ways the scarves can be styled:

You can also pair the scarf with a Maxi Skirt.

I recently completed a new surface design collection, titled Kindred.  There are three designs in the collection, each with a different color palette and design layout.  I decided to have the designs printed onto a super soft organic cotton knit fabric, which is perfect for my new Poncho Tops.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Kindred I

I've been working on some new surface designs, and I recently had the first of them printed onto fabric.  The name of the design is Kindred I, and it has a tribal and ethnic theme.  It's simple but the symbols are bold, and I decided to have it printed onto a very soft and wonderful organic cotton interlock knit fabric.  I'm so pleased with the result.  It really captures the essence of what I was going for.  I can't wait to start working with it.  For now, here's a peek:

Fab 5 Friday - SKCreations, LLC Custom Tote Bags

Do you carry a log of "stuff" everyday?  I do.  No matter how hard I try to pare down, my bags still tend to be overstuffed.  I don't really need everything I carry everywhere I go but I don't want to be caught without something, which has happened from time to time.  What to do?  Well, the answer for me is a handy tote bag.  It's a great solution because it will fit all those "extras" that I only might need, and it'll also accommodate a purse if I want to bring one along to use separately for some other activity.  It's a win-win.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Retropolis

I've created many surface design collections, but Retropolis is one of my favorites.  Every time I look at it I think of products that would be great for it.  The designs all have a retro/futuristic theme, which is almost contradictory, but it just seems to work.  Recently, I decided to have Retropolis 5 and 7 printed onto linen cotton canvas.  I'm thrilled with the results.  New projects coming soon!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: In Black and White

No matter who you are, you probably have black go-to pieces in your wardrobe.  It's practically a necessity.  There are many reasons people wear black.  It can be for the slimming effect or simply because it's cool or chic.  Of course, basic black goes with just about everything, but it's usually paired with white for a classic look.

My latest custom tote bag was crafted from fabric printed with my surface design, In Black and White.  The design includes geometric shapes with clean lines.  The lining is all black, and the bag will complement almost any style.  It's sure to become your go-to accessory too.  Available now in the SKCreations online boutique.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Calypso I

My newest surface design is titled Calypso I.  I have visited many parts of the West Indies, and calypso music is an original theme that flows through their culture.  It's usually very lively, and the sound puts me in a festive mood and makes me want to dance.  It is the inspiration for my new design, which I had printed onto linen cotton canvas fabric.  I'm looking forward to working with this fun design!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Who Spilled the Beans?

I love beans.  There probably isn't a week that goes by when I don't have them.  I'm a big fan of kidney beans, black beans, lima beans, navy beans and garbanzo beans, and there are others that get thrown into the mix from time to time.  They are a great source of protein, and since I don't eat red meat, and have chicken and fish only once in awhile, they're really a staple for me. 

My surface design, Who Spilled the Beans, is an ode to these legumes, and since I did get a bit carried away while creating the design, it ended up looking like someone just spilled out a container full.  Hence the name.

I recently had the design printed onto a linen cotton canvas fabric, and used the fabric to create this custom tote bag.  The lining is a complementary olive green duck cloth canvas fabric.  I think it's a fun and unique design, and sure to be a conversation starter.  Order yours in the SKCreations online boutique.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: More New Fabric!

I had another one of my surface designs, Zig, printed onto a modern jersey fabric, and I couldn't be happier with the results!  I LOVE this fabric, and I have some big plans in store for it.  I'm anxious to get started creating with it, but there are too many things ahead of it on the to-do list at the moment.  I've got to step it up or I just might burst at the seams (pun intended)!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: New Fabric!

I am sooo excited!  My new fabric has arrived!  I had three of my surface designs, In Black and White, Who Spilled the Beans and Stained Glass Mosaic, printed onto linen cotton canvas, and I love the way they turned out.  They will work perfectly for a few upcoming projects that I can't wait to start.  It's so funny to be anxious to put scissors to something that looks so good in one piece, but I'm sure the finished products will please me even more.  Stay tuned!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Fusion 3

In some parts of the world they are celebrating Carnival, a time of celebration, merrymaking and feasts.  The weather is usually accommodating for the outdoor festivities, warm and sunny.  Here on the East Coast of the U.S. however, the current weather inspires thoughts of hibernation instead of celebration.  The temps are in the single digits during the night and early morning, with daytime temps ranging in the teens and twenties.  If that isn't bad enough, the wind has been brutal.  Gusts were as high as 60 mph over the weekend, causing wind chill temps to be in the negative zone.  They've settled down a bit, but whip up periodically to let us know that they're not done yet.  Now they're calling for snow tonight, which is something I never get excited about.  I've started doing my countdown to Spring... 32 days. :-)

While my body is trying to stay warm, my mind is firing up its own celebration, which has led to my Fusion series of surface designs.  It makes me think of the Caribbean, and fun festivities in the sun.  I've made these bold designs available on a variety of items, including cell phone cases, clocks, pillows, rugs and more.  Below is a sample of some of these products featuring my Fusion 3 design.  You'll find these and more in my shop on Society 6.

Happy New Year!

I hope your 2015 is off to a great start!  I started the year with loads of energy and lots of enthusiasm for what this year has in store.  My creative juices are flowing over, and I can't wait to bring my new visions to life.
