SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Customer Testimonial

I love my customers, and I love when I can share their feedback about my products.  Here is a customer testimonial for our Custom Tote Bag:

"I am loving my new tote!  It's stylish yet practical.  Weekdays, it serves as my companion for carrying lunch, snacks and miscellaneous to-do items.  Weekends, it's been neat for bringing along copies of my new book and promotional items when I visit retail venues.   It's light in weight, flexible in use, and it looks great!  Love it!"

- Nesha L. Jenkins-Tate, Author, Perfecting the Dance: Soulful Lessons about Love, Faith, and Courage

I am truly thankful for her patronage, and I can testify that her book is a must-read full of timeless wisdom!

To Market, To Market

When you go grocery shopping, what type of bag do you use?  Plastic bags are always available at the stores I frequent, and occasionally they offer paper bags, but the biggest trend these days is to bring your own reusable shopping bag.  Although many of these are also plastic, the benefit is that you're not throwing it away and adding to the tremendous volume of plastic garbage that exists in our world (learn more here).  Of course there is the issue of these bags becoming very nasty and germ-ridden over time, which is just disgusting to think about, and that may ultimately lead you to throw it away.  I think a better alternative is a cotton bag.  They're not only environmentally safe, but machine washable too.  Also, if they're cute enough, you might use them not only for shopping trips but for other occasions as well.

SKCreations, LLC has a variety of small tote bags that can be used for your grocery shopping and more.  They're 100% natural cotton canvas and have designs that will complement your unique style.  Visit our online boutique to see these and more.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: SHOES... Food for the SOLE!

Do you love shoes?  I certainly do.  I think a well crafted shoe is a beautiful work of art.  I even looked into classes to learn to make shoes myself at one point.  So far I haven't taken the plunge, but I never say never.  Until then, I've decided to create shoes in a different way.  My latest surface design collection features my drawings of an assortment of shoe styles.  It's titled SHOES... Food for the SOLE!  I've designed a t-shirt and canvas bag for the collection, and a portion of the sale proceeds will be donated to Soles4Souls, a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty.  The products are available in the SKCreations online boutique.  Rather than feeling guilty about buying another pair of shoes, you can feel good about adding a little style to your wardrobe, that also helps someone in need.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: UNITY Custom Tote Bag

I designed the UNITY collection in the spirit of being connected and helping those in need in our communities and beyond.  I had the first design in the collection digitally printed on a sophisticated Linen Cotton Canvas, from which I created the outer fabric for this roomy tote bag.  I used a durable duck cloth for the lining.  The tote bag is made to order.  To learn more, please visit the SKCreations Online Boutique.

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: UNITY T-Shirt and Canvas Bag

I designed the UNITY series after traveling to Senegal and The Gambia in West Africa last Fall.  Seeing some of the living conditions in those countries sparked my desire to create a line that would be tied to giving back, here at home.  The series consists of three designs, the first of which is shown on this UNITY T-Shirt and Canvas Bag.  With the sale of each of these products, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank or SOME (So Others Might Eat).  Both organizations have a mission to provide assistance to the hungry, poor and homeless of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  The products can be purchased in the SKCreations Online Boutique.

Where Have They Gone?

Recently, I have had several inquiries about the products I created and sold over the last several years, which many came to associate with SKCreations, LLC.  To name a few, people are looking for my Eye Glam eyeglass cases, Glam Girl bags, and my popular Lil' Somethin' Somethin' Bags.

If you've checked out my new SKCreations website, you noticed they aren't there.  That is because I am discontinuing these items.  In redefining SKCreations, my focus is on products that feature my original designs and fabrics, rather than products made from fabrics designed by someone else.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the fabrics I've collected from every corner of the world over the years, and I made some cherished products from them, but the time has come to expand my brand in new and exciting ways.  I may start producing lines similar to the old ones in the future, but if I do they will be crafted from my fabrics exclusively.  For now though, I do have a dwindling inventory of the old products on hand, and they are all on sale.  So, if you're interested in getting something before they're gone, send me an email at info@skcreations.com and we'll make it happen.  Onward and upward!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Naturally ME Tote Bag

Introducing the Naturally ME Tote Bag.  Our Naturally ME series celebrates Black women who rock their natural hair.  Our original surface design was digitally printed onto a sophisticated Linen Cotton Canvas then used to create the outer fabric for this roomy tote bag.  The interior is constructed from a nutmeg colored durable duck cloth, and has two pockets and a base insert.

With each sale of a Naturally ME Tote Bag, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Covenant House, the largest privately-funded childcare agency in the country providing shelter and service to homeless and runaway youth. To learn more, visit http://www.covenanthouse.org.

Complement your natural style!

SKCreations, LLC Surface Design: Pantone Jazz

When Pantone, the authority on color, announced their Pantone Fashion Color Report for Fall 2013, I fell in love with the color palette.  I decided to put my own spin on it by creating a design that used those colors or some that were a close match.  The result was my original surface design titled Pantone Jazz.  I had my design digitally printed on fabric, then used it to create my favorite roomy tote bag.  I've included this design in my All That Jazz collection since I created geometric shapes in various sizes and color combinations and placed them vertically and horizontally, which I feel is a very jazzy and rhythmic layout if I might say so myself.  I used a fuchsia duck cloth to make the lining so the bag really pops.  Makes me want to snap my fingers.

A Look Inside the 4 More Years © Bag by SKCreations, LLC

I recently completed another 4 More Years © Bag, and wanted to share a look inside.

4 More Years © Bag by SKCreations, LLC

The lining in each bag is made from upholstery fabric, and this one happens to be a favorite.  The stripes are in rich shades of red, gold, orange and chocolate brown, and the weight and feel of the fabric is lofty and soft.

Front Lining with 2 Slip Pockets

On the front lining there are 2 slip pockets which can hold your cell phone and other essentials that you want readily accessible.

Back Lining with Zippered Pocket

The back lining has a roomy zippered pocket.

Other features of the bag include the appliqued design on the outside bag front, metal rivets, and a strap that can be worn on the shoulder or cross body.  The bag is hobo style and made from a variety of micro suede, leather and upholstery vinyl fabrics.

Since the bag is a Numbered Limited Edition, it is not available on the SKCreations website.  For more information, and to purchase, please use our Contact page.  Shipping on these bags is FREE.
